Here's a tip to help get a clear IMAGE TRANSFER with your GEL PLATE

Are you having trouble getting a good image to transfer onto the gel plate? I recently made a collagraph that I wanted to monoprint but I had spent so much time working on it that I started to second guess my ability to judge the paint quantity. I was having a low courage day! I needed to know exactly how much paint to use because if I messed up I’d have to make the whole collagraph again. So I grabbed a scale and ran a few tests, and found an amount for my particular setup. The collagraph in question is at the end, the two dogs; Harley & Rose. I have pulled 3 complicated collagraph/collage prints since recording this test with the raccoon, and all 3 have transferred wonderfully. Tested on my 8” x 10” Gelelf & Gelli Arts plate using Liquitex Basics in Mars Black. The laser print images are all run through the printer twice and I have the best luck with alignment by using the manual feed tray. #arttips #printmaking #gelliplateprinting #imagetransfer #gelplate #monoprinting
