MESSAGE MONDAY Not everything that you have the right or free will to do, is good for you. Corinthians 10:23 The Believer’s Freedom 23 “I have the right to do anything,” you say but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything” but not everything is constructive. If you disagree with them but cannot help them through it in love, get out of the way. Our job isn’t to be The Holy Spirit in their lives it is to show them The Holy Spirit through our lives. Roman’s 8:1-5 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. Therefore what are the desires of the Spirit? The Spirit seeks to guide individuals into all truth, comfort them, empower them to overcome sin, and transform them into the image of Jesus Christ, producing spiritual fruit like love, joy, and peace. Key desires of the Holy Spirit include: Total Possession and Fellowship: The Spirit deeply desires a close, intimate relationship with believers, yearning for their undivided attention. Guiding and Teaching: The Spirit desires to lead believers into all truth, providing divine wisdom, counsel, and direction in life. Transformation (Fruit of the Spirit): A primary desire is to change believers to be more like Jesus, producing fruit such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Empowerment: The Spirit desires to empower believers to live holy lives, enabling them to overcome sinful nature and fulfill God’s plan. Affirming Identity: The Spirit constantly reaffirms that believers are children of God and co-heirs with Christ. Unity and Mission: The Spirit desires to build up the church, empowering believers for service, evangelism, and to hunger for righteousness. The Spirit’s desires are often in contrast to the selfish desires of the human flesh, striving to lead people to walk according to God’s will.
