Game Info --------------------------------------------------- Developer: Sammy Publisher: Sammy Year of Release: 1995 Game Review & Impressions --------------------------------------------------- It's Halloween again, and this year's spooktacular longplay comes courtesy of the lightgun blaster, Zombie Raid. It's a gory and frenetic on-rails shooter where you must gun down werewolves, zombies, and all manner of ghoulish monstrosities, breaking open parts of the scenery to find power-ups and extra health. I normally try and go into some depth for these reviews, but the truth of it is it's not a complex game to describe, and these games are all pretty similar to begin with. What I can say is the graphics and general atmosphere are all perfectly adequate, and there are some really solid audio effects and music that accompany the whole affair. The fact you can equip different weapons is pretty cool, although only the shotgun and flame rounds are of any use. The automatic handgun is rubbish because you can still fire your normal gun more quickly, so I wouldn't even bother with it. Even though it's 2D, the character designs and general aesthetic reminded me of House of the Dead, which would come a couple of years later. It's an obvious comparison I know, but there was something about the flow that made me think about the parallels more than, say, Beast Busters. Regardless, this should sate your zombie-blasting desires, so lock and load, and show those undead freaks who's boss!
