Typically, every few minutes, it's supposed to open and lift the entire cleaner and transport it to another place in the pool. It's an especially important part because sometimes the cleaner can get stuck in a corner and can't get out. Replacing the valve is easy. Unscrew the hose nuts and save them, then wiggle the hoses off. Make sure to check the orientation on your new valve to make sure it's connected the right way. Put the hose nut on the new valve, then slip on the hose, and then tighten down the hose nut. Do the same on the other side, and the valve has been replaced!
