Get cosy for this one: Snow is very rare in London, coming once every couple of years and rarely sticking for more than a day or two, and I was lucky enough to have a day off the morning after it came down. De Beauvoir Town is a neighbourhood in east London. Two miles north of the City, it offers a slice of London's past and present, with townhouses, wide streets, and towers in the distance. It sits on the edge of Islington in Hackney, overlooking Regent's Canal and bordering Dalston, Haggerston, Hoxton and Angel. It was originally planned to encompass a much wider area, but even in its unfinished form, De Beauvoir contains many examples of architecture both grand and modest. I've been looking to film De Beauvoir Town for a while. The snow offered the perfect motivation. This walk starts in Islington, near the Almorah Community Centre, looping around Rosemary Gardens to Regent's Canal onto Southgate Road. Southgate forms De Beauvoir's high street of sorts, and marks the western boundary of the area. From there, it moves onto Northchurch Road, passing along cycle paths and pedestrian broadways to St Peter's Church (as seen in the thumbnail) and to De Beauvoir Square. From there, it's a short walk to Dalston, where this video ends. If you enjoyed this video and would like to see me make more, please consider subscribing. I really enjoyed filming it and loved that I was able to capture somewhere special to me. My pace of filming has slowed as I work full time and am studying for a master's degree in a subject I'm not super familiar with at the same time. But I still love filming and I will graduate next summer, so I hope I'll be able to pick up the pace a little. I have one more video to publish before Christmas; once that is done, I'll see what I can do after the new year and before my exams in January. Filmed on Panasonic GH5 with Ronin RS2 stabilizer.
