The ritual is compiled from prayers composed by one of the holiest meditation masters and eminent teachers of 19th and 20th Century, His Holiness Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche. Originating in Tibet, the tradition of doing dakhang every month has continued in the Tibetan monasteries and Dharma centres all over the world. For those who have received Dorje Shugden sogtae (life entrustment initiation), the dakhang is a monthly commitment that they must fulfil. The dakhang is a potent ritual that restores any degenerate or broken commitments we may have incurred, and fulfils our heart commitment to rely upon Dorje Shugden sincerely.
