Long-tailed macaques in Uluwatu, Bali, are known for a unique behavior called “robbing and bartering,” where monkeys steal items from tourists—such as glasses, hats, or phones—and later return them after receiving food. The rapid growth of tourism in Bali has created many interactions between humans and wildlife. In places where animals and humans frequently meet, animals may adapt their behavior in response to human presence, especially when food is involved.
