At the National Railway Museum, as part of the "Where's the Sugar" event held on August 17th 2025, English Electric diesel locomotive 801, the sole survivor of its class, was used on train rides with Centenary/Suburban car 376. This occasion was the first time 801 has hauled passengers in over 3 years, and on the museum's new track. You will see multiple vantage points from the cab of the locomotive as it does its trips in this video. Clips in this video were filmed safely via a GoPro attached to the locomotive cab. The locomotive was built in 1956 in Queensland, and served 36 years working for the SAR, and later ANR until 1992, when it was withdrawn from service and acquired by the National Railway Museum. The locomotive has a turbocharged 'inline-6' 6SRKT diesel engine, and the locomotive can produce up to 750hp. It is primarily used on exhibit shunts, although on rare occasions is brought out for train rides on a special event, such as what is seen in this video.
