A new program is helping to save orcas by lowering noise levels for the local endangered killer whales. And it was once considered a “cornerstone” species that arrived like clockwork each spring. But decades ago huge runs of herring nearly vanished in parts of Puget Sound. Now there are signs herring may be returning.
