MRT 7 Update University Avenue to Manggahan Station MRT-7: Connecting Quezon City to Bulacan The Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) is a pivotal infrastructure project spanning approximately 22.8 kilometers with 14 stations, designed to significantly reduce travel time and congestion in the northeast corridor of Metro Manila. Route and Key Areas The line begins at the major intermodal hub, the North Avenue (Common Station) in Quezon City, providing seamless transfers to the LRT-1 and MRT-3 lines. From there, it primarily runs along the highly populated Commonwealth Avenue, serving vital areas in Quezon City, including: Quezon Memorial Circle and University Avenue: Key links to national government landmarks and academic institutions like the University of the Philippines Diliman. The crowded residential and commercial districts of Tandang Sora, Don Antonio, Batasan, Manggahan, Doña Carmen, and Regalado Avenue along the Commonwealth corridor. The line continues through Mindanao Avenue and Quirino Avenue before entering North Caloocan, where the Sacred Heart and Tala stations are located. The MRT-7 concludes at its northern terminus in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Project Significance Once fully operational, the MRT-7 is expected to slash travel time between North Avenue, Quezon City, and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, from a two-to-three-hour bus ride to a mere 35 minutes. This will provide faster, more efficient public transportation for an estimated 300,000 to 850,000 daily passengers, easing traffic on major thoroughfares, particularly EDSA and Commonwealth Avenue.
