A WALK-THROUGH MT.HALLASAN WINTER HIKING | STYLED by LA|

On February 10, 2024, we embarked on a winter hiking trip to Mt. Hallasan, one of the best highlights of our trip to Jeju Island. Around 5 am, we departed from our hotel, beginning our journey to reach the Gwaneumsa Trail by 5:30 am. At 6:00 am, we commenced the hike in the darkness. This trail is known to be the most challenging, but it was the only option available as reservations were fully booked. Our plan was to descend via the Seongpanak Trail, but unfortunately, due to inclement weather, the entry to the summit was closed. Nonetheless, we had already ascended to an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. Hallasan (Korean: 한라산) is a shield volcano on Jeju Island in South Korea. Its summit, at 1,947 m (6,388 ft), is the highest point in the country. The area around the mountain is a designated national park, named Hallasan National Park. It was my first time seeing snow, which was something I had planned for, but I didn’t expect zero visibility and the snowfall to be a bit scary. Nevertheless, I’m grateful for our angels who protected us and brought us back safely.
