Big cities tend to sit in the spotlight, grabbing all the attention, leaving the surrounding provinces in their shadow. Less than half an hour’s drive from Kyiv is the historic town of Vasylkiv; though small and often overlooked, it is one of the oldest towns in Ukraine, with an important spiritual and religious heritage. Here too, there are local ‘ambassadors’ who can tell it better than any guide book or history book.
