Hello & welcome along on this walk! If you're new here - my name is Sarah and each week I head out on a walk with my faithful companion Jack Spaniels, to explore somewhere in this beautiful country of Scotland and hopefully find something to paint back in my studio at home. The heatwave is over and we thankfully have some cooler weather for walking. This week, we're heading back to the Scottish Highlands to climb a mountain that I have wanted to do for ages - Stac Pollaidh ('Stack Polly') in the beautiful area of Assynt. I had actually hoped to climb this mountain last year, before She Walks, She Paints even existed! However, the weather wasn't on our side and we didn't make it, so fortunately for you, it had to wait until now! I was so happy to be back climbing mountains in the rugged highland landscape - I'm sure you can see it in my smiling face! The hills at the moment are covered in a purple haze of heather, which is incredibly beautiful - both from a distance and up close. I chose to paint a sprig of purple bell heather, focusing in on the tiny flowers and needle like leaves. Watch the painting process from start to finish to see how I did it. If you enjoyed this video and you haven't already, please check out my other videos - including the three special Skye episodes, where we explore some incredible Scottish scenery. Join me again next week as we explore somewhere else in Scotland and look for painting inspiration...
