It was the most time-consuming to complete, as I wanted the music to be as synchronised with the action as possible. Also, I needed to think about character instruments/motifs. At 0:10, the string stabs are timed to splitscreen introductions of each character, pitched based on their respective sizes. Breadhead's is the lowest, Mel's is the highest. Ken's anger theme at 1:48 is a faster version of Face-to-Faith. Breadhead gets 2 themes here also, one heard in Get the Flock Out, and a subtle one at 1:16 that sets up the melody in Blubber Blues, Kenthusiasm, and Scream & Variation. Mel & Ken's familial theme is established at 2:26. The sliding strings at 1:58 are heard again in Get the Flock Out, they are meant to represent a sort of manic desperation mixed with sadness, an inevitable sinking feeling prey might get from being chased by a predator. You'll hear the sound at 2:16 a few times in the soundtrack. It's meant to be a sting that represents something fearful and/or a moral failure. Setting up a seemingly constant tempo but actually hiding a tonne of little 7/8, 15/16, 11/8 bars to bridge gaps was a fun challenge. The very first thing placed in the project file was the "oooooooyeah".
