Use Safe Mode to identify problematic apps on your Galaxy phone or tab | Samsung US

A problematic recently installed app could be to blame if your Galaxy phone or tab is locking up. To pinpoint which app is causing the issue, put your device into Safe mode to prevent third party apps from running. To do this, press and hold the side key and volume down button. Press and hold Power off and tap Safe mode. With the text "Safe mode" displaying in the bottom left corner, remove any apps that might be an issue without locking up your phone. For devices with unresponsive screens, press and hold the side key and volume down button for five seconds, until the phone restarts. When you see the Samsung logo, press and hold the volume down button again. When the phone boots up with the text "Safe mode" in the corner, release the volume down button. Simply restart your phone to exit safe mode and your phone will resume its usual high performance.
