As part of its mission to better understand environmental health risks in European cities, Net4Cities is deploying colocated noise monitoring terminals with traffic counting capacity in its 11 partner cities across Europe. These efforts aim to shed light on the importance of traffic noise as a major public health concern. On October 7th, 2025, Net4Cities hosted a public webinar titled “Noise Nuisance in a City That Never Sleeps” to explore how traffic noise affects our health and what cities can do to address this invisible challenge. The event featured: Sarah Weidenfeld (DLR – German Aerospace Center) presenting the latest research on how traffic noise impacts health. David Lopez Capdevila (City of Barcelona) discussing the city’s extensive noise-monitoring network and lessons learned from its implementation.
