Flying Fox to Rolling Bear to Brookway (via Hannah's Bypass) is a ski run of varying difficulties located at Loon Mountain Resort. The trails run from the summit of Loon Peak, down to the Octagon Lodge and the bottom of the White Mountain Express Gondola at the main base area. To access Flying Fox, I took Hannah's Bypass, an intermediate connector that begins to the skier's right of the top of the Gondola. The trail is narrow and makes a few sweeping turns. The trail gently runs along the top of the mountain as it passes underneath the gondola and crosses Angel Street. The trail eventually comes to a large intersection where I stayed to the far right to ski onto Flying Fox, an intermediate trail. Flying Fox is a classic, narrow, New England style trail which begins with a few gentle curves followed by a couple of sharper turns with a bit of pitch. Eventually, the trail arrives at a fork where it stays to the left, making a few more gentle turns before entering the beginner mid-mountain intersection, Grand Junction. Grand Junction passes under the gondola, after which I stayed to the right and then to the left at a fork to ski onto Rolling Bear, an advanced trail. Rolling Bear is a short trail with a decent pitch which is usually left ungroomed but was groomed at the time of this recording. When groomed, the trail skis more like a blue than a black. The trail empties out near the bottom of North Peak, where I stayed to the left to ski onto Brookway, a beginner trail. Brookway is narrow and connects the bottom of North Peak to the main base area. The trail gently runs through the woods, before arriving at the main base area. Loon Mountain is a ski resort located in Lincoln, New Hampshire. The ski area is one of the most popular in the state, being one of the largest ski areas in the state and being located just minutes off of Interstate 93 and outside downtown Lincoln, a popular town for tourists. The ski resort is comprised of three sections. Loon Peak is home to two separate base areas the Octagon Base Area and the Governor's Base Area. Loon Peak is home to many fun and winding groomers most of which are rated as intermediate. North Peak is home to the true summit of the ski resort and is home to more wide-open, mostly advanced groomers. Finally, South Peak, the newest portion of the resort which is located separate from Loon and North peaks and is connected by a two-way chairlift, is home to a mix of harder intermediate and advanced terrain including Loon's only double-black trail at Loon, Ripsaw. The ski area is also a popular destination in the summer and fall for mountain biking, scenic gondola rides, and mountain caves.
