Racing to Success: Sheldon van der Linde chats with Marius Roberts about his DTM dream

There is no fast track to success - it requires dedication, commitment, hard work and gritty determination. Throw in a load of raw natural ability and you have Sheldon van der Linde. At just 19 years of age he joined BMW Motorsport as a full works driver, racing for BMW Team RBM in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters and remains the youngest driver to win a National Championship in South Africa, at the tender age of 15! An interesting fact: that record was previously held by brother Kelvin, who in turn had taken that honour from uncle Etienne, and with grandfather Hennie and father Shaun both former SA title holders, its fair to say that the Van der Linde's are the 'first family of motorsport' in South Africa. So when I got invited by BMW South Africa to attend Round 4 of the 2019 DTM season at Norisring - my first DTM race - it was the perfect opportunity to catch up with Sheldon...top cha(m)p!
