Here is a no-talking video walkthrough of the Doubletree by Hilton 'West End' hotel, 92 Southampton Row, London, UK. QUICK REVIEW: Room is small, functional but the bed was quite firm and uncomfortable. Shabby/cracked bathroom fittings may be housing bacteria. Noise vibrations within the walls at night with running water/boiler dings and gurgling, sounds of distant doors closing seem closer than they are. If you're a light sleeper this would have to factor into your decision whether to choose this noisy hotel! The location is actually nearer to Holborn so although it's still central there is a 40+ minute walk or short bus ride to the actual West End (Piccadilly Circus) where alot of the entertainment and nightlife is. At £185 per night this hotel is overpriced compared to economy chain hotels in much better condition and quieter around Holborn. Also there were a few guests in reception waiting to complain and the staff seemed quite dismissive of them. We spoke to someone who said that Hilton deducted extra money from their account for services they didn't use and were trying to ask staff to return it but were being ignored! Looking on Tripadvisor reveals this seems to be a common trait where they help themselves to your account and don't return the money until you threaten legal action. Absolutely unacceptable and we recommend avoiding the Hilton brand. Zero Stars -Avoid.
