BELLVER CASTLE (CASTELL DE BELLVER): I walked from central Palma to Bellver Castle on the hills above the Palma De Mallorca. Once there I explored its history & enjoyed the best views of Palma. 🇪🇸 See all of my videos from SPAIN here → https://bit.ly/mwt_Spain Bellver Castle has been sitting on the hills above Palma for over 600 years, it was originally built for King James II of Majorca and later converted into a military prison. It is one of only a few circular castles in Europe and currently houses the city's history museum. It is 2 miles (3km) from Palma Cathedral. I decided to walk there from Palma Cathedral on a hot summer's day in August to take a look for myself. The hike up is relatively straightforward although the intense midday sun added to the challenge, and the steps up made it feel a lot more than the expected 3km (2 miles). The effort was definitely worth it though, the views and scenery from on top of the castle were spectacular and the sandstone fortifications are marvellous to see up close.
