In Defense of the Subgenre

A labor of passion. Please share your thoughts, they are greatly valued. TANGENTIAL RANT: I started writing this video at the end of November almost immediately after the release of my previous video essay "Nostalgia, Music, and You". Since the initial kick of inspiration, any progress made on the script was inconsistent and sporadic up until the Summer of this year where I realized I had a presentable and interesting idea on my hands. I thought that if I pulled myself out of this weird slump of imposter syndrome and solemn moods I could actually finish this and turn it into something to be proud of instead of an indefinitely worked upon rough draft I could bring up in small talk. The trajectory of my content creation this year has shifted course multiple times due to a laughably frustrating number of factors, and as I saw my windows of creative opportunity grow smaller and fewer, I had to begin to understand and prioritize what I wanted out of this channel. This video is a representation of this process and although reaching the finish line was a bumpy path I am immensely proud of this video and sincerely appreciate you taking the time to watch it with an open mind.
