Krithi: Samagana Priyakaram Ragam: Keeravani Thalam: Misrachap Composer: Guru Surajananda Vocal: V K Manimaran V. K. Manimaran is a celebrated Carnatic vocalist who hails from the illustrious Nadaswaram Paramparai, a revered stylistic tradition of Tamil Nadu. He is the grandson of the legendary Maestro Kulikkarai Pichayappa Pillai and the nephew of the renowned Nadaswaram exponent Shri Kulikkarai Viswalingam Pillai, who was also his first guru. Manimaran began his musical journey at the tender age of five under the guidance of his uncle and gave his first stage performance by the age of ten. Deeply rooted in the traditional aesthetics of Carnatic music, he has performed on all major stages across Tamil Nadu and beyond. He pursued formal education in music and earned a Master’s degree in Indian Music from the University of Madras, during which he was mentored by several eminent gurus including Smt. Suguna Purushothaman, Smt. Rukmini Ramani, and Shri Rajam Iyer. He further honed his craft through advanced training under the great maestro Calcutta Shri Krishnamurthy for several years. Endowed with a robust voice, refined aesthetics, and an uncompromising adherence to classical values, V. K. Manimaran is known for his wide repertoire encompassing works of various composers. With over two decades of distinguished stage presence, he has carved a niche for himself in the Carnatic music world, blending deep tradition with personal expression. This is a beautiful composition in praise of Lord Shiva, highlighting his attributes as the enjoyer of Sama Veda chants, his moon-adorned form, his association with both Parvati and Lakshmi, his destruction of desire (Kamadeva), and his captivating divine form.
