Today I'm taking about 2 common OKR mistakes: 1. Too many OKRs 2. Using milestones & tasks as key results (often leading to the first mistake) And a bonus mistake: Not checking in! 🙋 I've made these mistakes many times. They happen when we conflate OKRs with delivery management. Delivery management keeps things moving. OKRs and check-ins keep things moving in the right direction and tell us when we'll arrive at our destination. Consider a car's engine vs the GPS/satnav. A huge engine with no navigation won't get you anywhere worthwhile. 🚗 🗺️ 📍The solution is simply to be mindful of "the destination" vs "the work". Come up with a small set of measurable outcomes (OKRs) which will be complete when all the "stuff" is complete (delivery management). For help checking in, take a look at this guide: https://www.peterkappus.com/blog/a-gu... What pitfalls have you discovered in adopting OKRs? How have you overcome them? What would you like me to talk about next?
