The Bay Area played a major “roll” in the creation, evolution and documentation of skateboarding. A major driving force was capturing the styles learned in the streets and ramps which promoted skating and the culture. This was a draw to people from around the world to come to the Bay Area. This series highlights a few of those ground-breaking image makers. Tobin Yelland’s early experience as skateboard photographer for Thrasher Magazine and cinematographer in the streets of San Francisco, had a great impact on his gift of capturing the decisive moment. As a core member of the Bay Area skate scene it came natural to Tobin to capture moments as he saw them; raw and real, with a twist of humor.
