The Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated a crackdown in West Bengal, issuing show-cause notices to eight Booth Level Officers (BLOs) for alleged irregularities during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. According to an official report, the ECI has warned the BLOs 'against violating the rules on the election form distribution'. The officers are accused of distributing enumeration forms from tea stalls and local clubs instead of conducting the mandatory door-to-door visits.
