OMICRON’s Decision Support tool optimises road maintenance planning

Minimising traffic disruption while roads undergo maintenance is always a goal for road management authorities. The EU–funded OMICRON project’s intelligent platform includes a Decision Support System that optimises maintenance planning. Coupled with a powerful Digital Twin, data from road and bridge inspection and analysis, and traffic simulations, this helps minimise disruption and enhance safety by scheduling works during off-peak times. Alice Consilvio (University of Genoa) presented the system and results in the 6th External Advisory Board meeting on 19 November 2024. This online workshop included road owners and managers, maintenance and construction specialists among other key experts.
