Florian is shocked to see that it is nonother than his sister, Lady Psyche. He expresses his fear to Hilarion and Cyril that his sister will recognize him and blow their cover. Hilarion suggests that Florian trust their secret to her gentle care. Though overjoyed to see her brother, Psyche explains to Cyril, Hilarion, and Florian that it is death for men to enter Ida's castle. She goes on to explain to them that Ida and her women have all renounced mankind because man, sprung from ape, is ape at heart. And that Darwinian man, though well behaved, at best he is only a monkey shaved.
