Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar has decided to return her BMW car, which was one of the presents she received after finishing fourth in Rio Olympics, stating maintenance issues. Dipa is likely to return her car to its original owner V Chamundeswaranath, president of the Hyderabad Badminton Association. According to reports, her coach BS Nandi said that this was a collective decision taken by him and Dipa's family, stating that there was no BMW service center in Agartala, and the roads there were not suitable to drive such a posh car. Her coach further said that the Hyderabad Badminton Association has accepted their request, adding that they have asked the concerned authority to transfer the amount equivalent to the value of the car or whatever amount they decide to Dipa’s bank account. Dipa along with India’s two medallist from Rio, PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik, received a BMW car each in September by the Hyderabad Badminton Association.
