There may be nothing more valuable in a pet emergency than being as ready as possible for it beforehand. Our Pet Emergency Checklist is designed to help you do this. Check that you can answer yes to each item on this list, and you’ll be ready in case of an emergency. • Have my vet’s phone number saved in my mobile phone contact, and accessible at home • Know where to go for an emergency during the day. • Know where to go for an emergency ‘out of hours’. • Have transport plans in place. • Have the accessories required to keep my pet safe while travelling. • Are aware of, and are prepared to cover treatment costs. • Know what medications my pet is on (if any) including strength and dosage. • Know what my pet is allergic to, any major medical conditions or previous surgeries. • Have a first aid kit for my pet (visit www.vets-now.com/firstaid to find out the essentials.) • Have my pets documents stored together and to hand if needed. As an extra note: if you travel any anywhere, such as a holiday, ensuring you pass on your vet’s details to their carers for while you’re away. If you travel and take your companion with you, plan ahead so you’re aware of where to take them in that area if an emergency occurs.
