Date(s) filmed: Wednesday the 8th of January / Saturday the 8th of February 2025 Videos filmed at: 13:58 | 14:04 | 14:12 / 14:58 | 15:04 | 15:14 Route: London Overground 'Mildmay Line' Acton Central (ACC) Station Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCB-CCTV) Filming location: East Churchfield Road, Acton (W3 7LL) Featuring: - @UKLevelCrossingsChannel - @RH_TransportPhotography - @SouthCoastLevelCrossings34 - @ElectraLevelCrossings A busy level crossing located just east of Acton Town Centre in Acton, West London. This level crossing is controlled via CCTV from nearby Acton Wells Signal Box, and is beside Acton Central Railway Station on the London Overground's 'Mildmay' Line, part of the Network Rail-operated metro system which spans London. The adjacent station is also where power changeovers happen, with trains changing between 750-volt Direct Current (shoes) third rail power and 25-Kilovolt Alternating Current overhead (pantograph) power as each mode starts/ends here. The four LED 'red standing figure' pedestrian signals, which flash together, were installed in 2018, and the modern high-rises of North Acton can be seen with an imposing presence on the skyline looking North without the fog/mist. Despite being so busy, this level crossing hasn't been known to have loud alarms, though they have been out of 'night mode' since 2021, for a while before which they were ridiculously quiet. Class 378 'Capitalstar' trains dominate the area, but a surprise appearance from a Class 710 'Aventra' happens in this video. This is another video taken across two dates due to revisiting this crossing with the group, and on the second date, a further interesting feature in the form of a Class 153 'Visual Inspection Unit' features. We got up close and personal with this train at South Acton a little later on, and could clearly see the inside from the platform - check the 'card' at the top right of the video to see the footage from there.
