Harrisburg's homeless community focuses on the future while under a foot of snow

Across Central Pennsylvania, communities are rallying to clean up the snow before it turns to ice. This includes Amiracle Community, the lot where many of Harrisburg's homeless population resides. Months after local nonprofit Amiracle4sure welcomed more than 100 unhoused individuals to its lot off Cameron Street, the community faced its first winter storm. "We were gearing up with, heating the warming stations, grabbing enough propane tanks," said Timothy White, the Executive Director of Amiracle Community. CBS 21 was able to go inside the warming stations that were built with the help of another local nonprofit, The Happe Lifestyle. Both featured amenities for the residents and heaters fueled by propane. One of the shelters, intended to be an area for cooking, had microwaves, toasters, and other cooking apparatuses.
