Dreamland Margate Scenic Railway Behind The Scenes Vlog August 2018

Join us in this exclusive video for a behind the scenes tour of the oldest roller coaster in the UK. Join Shawn as he speaks with the technical services manager at the park for a tour around this incredible wooden roller coaster. The ride was originally built in 1920 and was known to many as the Queen of Dreamland, however this ride has had a challenging history. The Scenic Railway escaped major damage during World War II, a spate of terrible fires destroyed crucial parts of her structure in 1949, 1959 and again in 2008. Along with damage to the workshop which housed her original hand carved trains, much of the structure was destroyed. The devoted local community worked together with Sea Change and the Heritage Lottery Fund to raise funds for her stunning renovation. Along with taking a behind the scenes look at this iconic coaster, Andrew also explains about the 8 new rides from Zamperla that have opened at the park for summer 2018.
