Molasses and feeding soil microbes. Does the idea of feed soil microbes work? Molasses do have sugars which fungi and bacteria in the soil do like. Blackstrap molasses is high in calcium, magnesium, iron and potassium. It also contains sulfur and a host of micronutrients. The rate for molasses to water is 3 tablespoons per gallon. The sugars will feed microbes. But microbes are opportunistic meaning the population increases and decreases based on conditions.
