First, I carefully relubricated the focusing helicoid and aperture ring with Helimax XP NLGI #1 Lithium grease. Smooth as butter now. Then, I carefully cleaned those optics with IPA 99% to ensure there's not a smudge or mark left. Next, a little tweak for modern convenience. I modified the aperture ring to be a 'single action' champ, making it user-friendly for today's shooters. Swapping out those frail aluminum grub screws with gleaming stainless steel ones has transformed it into a lens as robust as a tank. I've reduced the minimum focusing distance from 0.7m to a convenient 0.5m. You'll be grateful for this in the future. Of course, I gave it a good test run. Focusing helicoid and aperture ring feel just right. There you have it.
