In the wake of the Huntingdon train stabbings, the actions of a 'heroic' rail worker left with critical injuries are being praised by police. [Subscribe to our Substack newsletter: https://channel4news.substack.com/sub...] The unnamed LNER staff member tried to stop the attacker, as the driver acted quickly to divert the train to Huntingdon station, where police swarmed the scene to make an arrest. The driver has been named as Andrew Johnson, an ex-Navy Iraq war veteran. Anthony Williams has been named as the suspect, charged with 11 counts of attempted murder. One of the charges relates to a different attack in the early hours on the day of the mass stabbing. Cambridgeshire Police have referred itself to the police watchdog after three further incidents have been linked to the alleged attacker. Two relate to a man with a knife in a barbers in Fletton on Friday evening and Saturday morning, and another where a 14-year-old boy had minor injuries after being stabbed in Peterborough town centre on Friday evening. The government has ruled out bigger changes to stop these types of attacks but police presence would be stepped up in the immediate aftermath. ------- Get more news at our site - https://www.channel4.com/news/ Subscribe to our Substack newsletter: https://channel4news.substack.com/sub...
