In 1980, the quiet West Yorkshire town of Todmorden became the centre of two of Britain’s strangest mysteries. First, a man named Zigmund Adamski left home to buy potatoes and never returned. Five days later his body was discovered lying on top of a coal heap in Todmorden, with mysterious burns, strange ointment on his skin, and no clear cause of death. Then, just months later, PC Alan Godfrey, one of the officers who attended Adamski’s body, reported his own extraordinary encounter. Driving into Todmorden in the early hours, he came across what he at first thought was a bus blocking the road, but soon realised it was something very different. His experience, backed up by other reported sightings that night, has never been fully explained. In this video, I’m hiking through the hills and countryside around Todmorden to retell both of these stories, explore why this small town became known as Britain’s UFO hotspot, and ask: what really happened here? 💡 Along the way I’ll also be hiding a very special giveaway item, a signed copy of Alan Godfrey’s book, somewhere in the local area for one of you to find. 👉 What do you think happened to Zigmund and PC Godfrey?
