Boys from the County Hell covering Thousands Are Sailing by the Pogues, on 30 November 2024, the 1st anniversary of Shane MacGowan's passing, during a special tribute gig titled Singapore Remembers Shane MacGowan. ---------------- Based in Singapore, Boys from the County Hell (BFTCH) have already established themselves as the quintessential tribute to legendary folk-punk band, The Pogues. Formed by a group of passionate musicians who share a love of The Pogues gritty, poetic and raucous spirit, BFTCH dedicate themselves to giving an authentic Pogues experience to fans and newcomers alike. At the heart of BFTCH is the commitment to replicating the raw energy, intricate musicianship, and chaotic delivery that The Pogues are renowned for. In order to achieve this authentic sound, the 8-piece band (including banjos, accordions, whistles) is expanded to include female guest vocalists and even a brass section. To our knowledge, no tribute act in the world is more dedicated to replicating the legendary Pogues sound. With the passing of Shane MacGowan in 2023 there has been a resurgence of interest in The Pogues’ music. Recognised as one of the best Irish writers since James Joyce, MacGowan’s lyrics can be anarchic, poignant, brazen, and cheeky. Paired with frenetic melodies and perfectly crafted songs, The Pogues music incite participation wherever it’s performed. ---------------- Boys From The County Hell are: (for this event) Gerry - lead vocals Paddy - banjo, piano, vocals Conor - whistles, harmonica, vocals Joe - guitar, vocals Karl - melodeon Esther - bass Seb - drums Mark - mandolin With special guests: Jen - vocals and The Horny Brassholes Nev - saxophone Eriko - trombone Scott - saxophone Dave - trumpet
