FIV and FeLV - No Longer a Death Sentence Animal Welfare League has many sweet animals available for adoption. Some of the cats have FIV or FeLV. Neither of these disease make cats "unadoptable". Doctor Kirk, veterinarian from the AWL, provided these Worrywarts with very good information on these retro diseases, FIV and FeLV. Dr. Kirk explains that FIV, is known as the fighting cat disease because if is transferred by blood. So deep bites will spread the disease. On the other hand "or paw", FeLV, is known as the "friendly cat" disease, and is transferred by saliva. Therefore, sharing bowls, litter boxes and grooming, will put a cat at risk. Karen, of AWL, introduces us to several adoptable cats with FIV and FeLV. Among them are Chester and Elfie, who get along great together for anyone interested in a two cat adoption, Callie, a gorgeous calico and Winter, who stole our hearts with his cheeky tom cat face.
