Have you ever wondered what life is like in an Afghan village? What do people do for work? What do they do for fun, and is it like a nomadic lifestyle? Well, in this video, let's take a closer look at village life in Afghanistan and living in remote Afghanistan villages. Village life in Afghanistan is traditional, and cooking food for the family is often done by women. They care for children and animals such as goats, sheep, cows, and chickens. Daily life in Afghanistan's rural villages revolves around daily routines, home, and family. In some rural areas, women may cook together in a large communal kitchen and share the same tandoor for baking naan. In other, each family has its kitchen and cooks its own meals. Rural village life cooking is a unique process. There are many different ways to cook food, and each culture has its own methods and recipes. In rural villages, cooking and baking bread are often done over an open fire using a clay oven. That's why the Afghan lifestyle and rural food cuisine differ from neighboring countries like Pakistan, India, Iran, Tajikistan, and China. One of the most striking differences is how meals are prepared and served. In a typical village home, there is no gas stove or oven; instead, all cooking is done over an open fire in a clay oven known as a tandoor. The morning routine of village women in Afghanistan usually starts with making bread dough, kneading it to perfection, and then baking naan bread first thing in the morning. The most common type of bread baked in the countryside is tandoori naan. It is a flatbread cooked on the inside walls of a tandoor and is crispy! It is usually served with tea or other meals such as rice, Kachaloo (potato), stew, soup, qorma, and Shorwa/Shorba during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Afghan food is flavorful and often spicy. Typical spices used in Afghan cooking include cumin, turmeric, paprika, and chili powder. Saffron is also used in some dishes to add color and flavor. One of the most popular dishes in Afghanistan is Kachaloo tandoori (also known as tandoori potato and aloo tandoori), as shown in this video. It is a potato dish recipe usually served with naan, and it's delicious.
