Marly, since 1896 Created in tribute to the Château de Marly, one of the charming holiday resorts of Louis XIV in which he loved to receive his guests. Marly is one of the most elaborately decorated patterns available in the Christofle collection. The fine chasing of its asymmetrical plant motifs, typical of the “Rocaille” or Louis XV style, highlight the silversmith’s expertise and attention to detail. Chiseled with fine plant illustrations that seem to embrace the objects’ handles with deliberate grace and symmetry. The chiseling technique animates the cutlery, giving the sense that at any moment, the plants may extend beyond the confines of the frame of the flatware and other objects. #christofle
