In this guest training for Birthing Gently, Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Perinatal Mental Health Certified clinician Jessica Bois, LMHC, PMH-C shares practical insight on strengthening empathy and patient connection within anesthesia teams. Anesthesia providers play a powerful role in shaping a patient’s birth experience. From epidural conversations to cesarean support, the way we communicate, listen, and respond can directly impact emotional safety, trust, and long-term outcomes. In this session, Jessica explores: • Trauma-aware communication strategies • Recognizing anxiety and fear in laboring patients • Building rapport quickly in high-stress environments • Supporting better patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes through relational care This training was presented for Birthing Gently’s education program to support interdisciplinary collaboration and improve perinatal care for families. When anesthesia teams lead with empathy, everyone benefits. #AnesthesiaCare #PerinatalMentalHealth #TraumaInformedCare #BirthSupport #MaternalHealth #PatientCenteredCare #ObAnesthesia #HealthcareCommunication #BirthingGently #DoulaEducation
