When he later moved to Los Angeles, the warm welcome he had hoped for didn’t materialize, as hate and intolerance continued to follow him. Despite these challenges, Vishavjit found a way to fight back—not with anger, but through art, education, and a superhero costume. He became widely known for portraying a turbaned, bearded Captain America, using his persona to challenge stereotypes and redefine what it means to be an American in a post-9/11 world. Now, as the co-director of the Oscar-qualified animated short film American Sikh, Vishavjit shares his journey from engineer to cartoonist and activist. This inspiring film, backed by notable producers like Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna and Oscar-winner Guneet Monga Kapoor, tells the powerful story of one man’s fight against hate through creativity and courage.
