I'm renting the FS700 for a couple video projects. In order to get better aquatinted with the camera before I use it for work, I needed to conduct a few highly scientific tests. What did I learn? The screen on the FS700 is pretty hard to see clearly in the sun. The viewfinder attachment is helpful, but it loses some sharpness when it is attached. An external monitor would be really helpful. 960FPS is a reduced quality capture. It's decent, but fringing is more evident, and obviously the sharpness is reduced. What I wasn't expecting is that the lens field of view crops in to about 1/2 the actual of the lens, since it uses a smaller portion of the sensor to manage 960fps. Like is your friend. Shooting outdoor was a huge help. There's also a 500watt Lowel Omni on her face. F1.0 is freakin awesome, but challenging. My 50mm 1.4 Canon lens and the 85mm 1.4 Nikon with adaptor turn into F1.0 lenses when attached to the Metabones Speed booster. Genious, focusing light into a smaller sensor, rather than wasting it like a full frame lens does on a crop sensor camera. Why doesn't Metabones sell a speed booster that converts full frame to crop frame cameras, and use all the light this expensive glass can gather? Verdict on 960FPS? Overall, it's not bad, depending on the subject. It's no Phantom, but the price is also much less.
