Track 1: Octopus The Best of Syd Barrett: Wouldn’t You Miss Me? is a 2001 compilation album that brings together the essential tracks from Syd Barrett’s entire solo career. Released on 16 April 2001 in the UK and 11 September 2001 in the US, the album offers a concise overview of Barrett’s post–Pink Floyd work. The collection features standout songs from his two classic 1970 albums, The Madcap Laughs and Barrett, alongside select tracks from the 1988 outtakes compilation Opel. Designed as an accessible introduction for casual listeners, it distills Barrett’s solo output into a single, carefully curated disc. For longtime fans, the album also includes rare bonus material, such as “Two of a Kind” from Syd Barrett’s John Peel radio session in February 1970, as well as the previously unreleased “Bob Dylan Blues,” sourced from David Gilmour’s personal archive. The latter was recorded shortly after the Peel session and had long been considered one of Barrett’s most elusive recordings. ℗ 2001 The copyright in this compilation is owned by EMI Records Ltd. © 2001 EMI Records Ltd.
