Guildford Cathedral Choir, directed by Barry Rose: Carol Service at Guildford Cathedral, 25 December 1973: (From 1965 onwards, the Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols replaced Evensong on Christmas Day. Originally, the opening solo was sung from the west end of the cathedral but by 1973 it was evidently being sung from the Crossing. This was Barry Rose’s last Carol Service at Guildford and is the only one of which we have a complete recording, including prayers and all nine Lessons) 1.
