Mahathi is a distinguished Carnatic musician and playback singer known for her melodious voice, technical brilliance, and deep understanding of classical music. Born into a family of musicians, she inherited a rich musical lineage and began her training at an early age under the guidance of her father, Sri Thiruvaiyaru P. Sekar, a renowned vocalist and a disciple of the legendary M. Balamuralikrishna. Her mother, Smt. Vasanthi Sekar, is an accomplished flautist and a grand disciple of T. R. Mahalingam, N. Ramani, and Kesi. Additionally, Mahathi is the great-granddaughter of the esteemed violinist Sangeetha Kalanidhi Pazhamaneri Swaminatha Iyer. She initially trained under her parents and later honed her skills under the tutelage of eminent gurus, including Smt. Lalitha and Gayatri in Trivandrum. She further underwent advanced musical training under Sangeetha Kala Acharya Late Mangad Natesan and Padma Bhushan awardee Madurai Shri T. N. Seshagopalan, which enriched her knowledge and refined her artistry. With a strong foundation in Carnatic music, Mahathi has mesmerized audiences with her soulful renditions, intricate grasp of ragas, and impeccable vocal techniques. Apart from excelling in the classical music domain, she has also carved a niche for herself in the South Indian film industry as a playback singer, lending her voice to numerous hit songs in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam cinema. She has collaborated with legendary composers such as Ilaiyaraaja and A. R. Rahman, earning widespread recognition for her versatility and unique tonal quality.
