This weekend marked the first official UTA Miler bootcamp of my training block — a wet, rugged course recce through the front end of the UTA Miler course in the Blue Mountains. Based at Blackheath Glen Tourist Park, we tackled back-to-back days on course, covering the opening sections from the UTA Miler start through to CP2 at Govetts Leap, then continuing from CP2 toward Pinnacles Car Park. This video is filmed from a back-of-the-pack perspective, where steady progress, problem-solving, and time on feet matter more than natural ability. Over the coming months, I’ll be breaking the UTA Miler course into manageable sections, learning the terrain, elevation, and those small trail details you only notice through repeated recces. 📍 Sections covered in this video: • Start to CP2 – Govetts Leap (12.6km, no cutoff) • CP2 to Pinnacles Car Park (toward Fortress Ridge) • Creek crossings, route finding, and technical climbing • Elevation profiles and course maps • Wet-weather training and recce lessons • Hydro Majestic Hotel checkpoint (48.3km) This is the first of many monthly UTA Miler bootcamps as I build toward race day — learning the course one section at a time. If you’re training for the UTA Miler, UTA 100, or any long-distance trail ultra — or if you’re a fellow back-of-the-pack runner — I hope this helps you prepare, visualise the course, and feel less alone in the grind. 👍 Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and follow along as the journey continues.
