SC Orders All Stray Dogs In Delhi NCR Rounded Up Amid Rising Bite Cases | India Today News

The Supreme Court has taken suo moto cognizance of the stray dog issue in Delhi NCR, ordering municipal authorities to round up all stray dogs and place them in shelters within the next few weeks. This directive comes in response to a rise in dog bite incidents, some of which have resulted in the deaths of children and the elderly. The court has mandated the sterilization of these animals and specified that they should not be returned to their original localities, a significant departure from previous Animal Welfare Board of India guidelines. Warning that “activism cannot bring the dead to life,” the court stated that any individual or organization obstructing this process will face penalties.
