The third technical webinar in the EUROCONTROL Stakeholder Forum series will focus on Point Merge, a systemised method for sequencing arrival flows developed by the EUROCONTROL Experimental Centre in 2006. Point Merge contributes to simplification and reduction of controller tasks, better pilot situational awareness, improved airspace management and flight efficiency. First implemented at Oslo in 2011 and Dublin in 2012, it is now operational in 28 places across four continents and the list keeps on growing. Point Merge is one of the ICAO aviation system block upgrades (ASBU) and is referenced as a technique to support continuous descent operations (CDO - ICAO doc 9931). This webinar will take stock of the latest developments and address the following questions: What lessons have we learned from Point Merge implementation around the globe? What are the key benefits and limitations? How should Point Merge evolve? To address these questions and to share their experience with Point Merge implementation, we have lined up experts from the Norwegian service provider Avinor, the Irish Aviation Authority, Ryanair, and EUROCONTROL.
