2021 KTM 300XCW Erzberg 1st Ride: Off Road Perfection!

2021 KTM 300 Erzberg 1st Ride! Off Road Perfection! First ride on my new 2021 KTM 300XCW Erzberg. This bike simply works so good! Rode from 800ft to 2600 ft elevation on mountain trails and the EFI fueling (and oil injection) has the engine running so clean and crisp. This engine runs down to what feels like 0 rpm and pulls so smoothly yet has instant throttle response with strong linear power. Throttle pull is effortless (no slide!). Zero vibration from the engine. The suspension is plush and absorbing and worked great on the trails I rode today. The 2020/21 suspension has an off road focused setting that has a little more hold up and better bottoming resistance compared to the 2019 300XCW's I've ridden. The PDS chassis feels a bit more active in motion compared to similar KTM/Husky linkage models. The Erzberg feels agile and quick on the trails. Dunlop AT81 tires have a compliant and absorbing carcass and work well over a wide variety of terrain though I still prefer the Dunlop MX3S front over the AT81 front tire for terrain I ride. The seat looks aggressive but is comfortable. The Brembo brakes are strong and controllable. All the extra functional parts on the 300 Erzberg make it such a capable off road bike off the showroom floor...the orange frame and cool graphics are like icing on the cake!
